'Avatar' sequels to be filmed at Manhattan Beach studio

The next two installments of the highest-grossing film in history will be made in Manhattan Beach, representatives from James Cameron's production company, Lightstorm Entertainment, confirmed Wednesday.

The two sequels to the 2009 3-D blockbuster "Avatar" will be shot and produced at the Manhattan Beach Studios Media Campus, the sprawling facility formerly known as Raleigh Manhattan Beach Studios and located at 1600 Rosecrans Ave.

"Avatar," the 2009 3-D science fiction epic, took home three Academy Awards and grossed more than $2.7 billion at the box office.

The five-year deal was first signed in April and financial terms of the lease were not available.

James Cameron to Make 'Avatar' Sequels in Manhattan Beach (Exclusive)

The blue people are on the move.

Director James Cameron and 20th Century Fox have signed a lease for studio and office space at MBS Media Campus in Manhattan Beach and will use the facility for the motion capture photography and high-tech production on two highly-anticipated sequels to Avatar, the biggest blockbuster of all time.
Cameron confirmed to THR the deal for space at the 1600 Rosecrans Ave. property, formerly known as Manhattan Beach Studios, in a brief interview at the National Association of Broadcasters show in Las Vegas on Monday. The length and dollar value of the lease are not known.
The 580,000-square-foot studio and office facility, which houses 15 soundstages, also is likely to become the new home of Cameron’s company, Lightstorm Entertainment. Sources said Cameron has been in the market for as much as 90,000 square feet of production and office space.

‘Avatar’ Sequels To Be Solar-Powered

James Cameron’s search for a new home to house his Lightstorm Entertainment production company has finally ended — and, as expected, he’s chosen a studio with a commitment to environmental design.

The director and his business partner, Jon Landau, recently announced that the MBS Media Campus in Southern California (formerly known as Manhattan Beach Studios) will serve as the setting for filming the next two “Avatar” sequels.

Family fest to fete man behind Goofy

Farmer will be feted March 20, when the five-day festival wraps with its annual awards ceremony at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood.

Friedman Real Estate Group named leasing agent for Raleigh Studios office space

The Friedman Real Estate Group has been hired as the exclusive leasing agent for the office portion of the new film studio in Pontiac.

The Farmington Hills real estate company will handle the marketing and sales efforts for the 100,000 square feet of office space next to Raleigh Michigan Studios, on Centerpoint Parkway. The campus comprises 620,000 square feet of space.

As part of the listing, Friedman is creating a new Film and Production Services Group, said Managing Director Gary Goodman. Senior Vice President Steve Eisenshtadt will head the group for Friedman.

“This is a unique project; there’s nothing else like it,” Goodman said. “Ideally, we’ll find users who want to take advantage of the symbiotic relationship with the stages and production space.”

The junior lender on Albuquerque Studios is moving ahead with a foreclosure action on the membership interest of the owners, Pacifica Mesa Studios LLC.

Workers Realty Trust II LP has published a legal notice in the Los Angeles Times scheduling the foreclosure sale for Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. in the offices of attorney Louis Puccini at 11200 Lomas Blvd. NE.
